Hair Loss

Sometimes surgery will trigger a sudden loss. This is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary.  A number of hormonal issues can cause excessive hair loss. Hair loss may occur when male and female hormones known as androgens and estrogens get out of balance.  Many women notice hair loss after pregnancy because of the sharp decline in hormone levels. Certain medicines, birth control pills and antidepressants can also cause hair loss.
